Clutch release bearing

Recommended Posts

Ashley

Hi all. I am changing the full clutch assembly and release bearing on a 1990 1.9 gti with Be3 box. Should there be a retainer clip / spring holding the release fork to the back of the lugs on the release bearing ? There are none on mine though I thought it should have some sort of retainer. Want to be sure before I put the car back together. Also anyone have a part number for the oil seal / shaft which the bearing slides along ? Thought it wise to change it whilst the box is out.

Thank you for your help.

Ashley.

if it looks like this it has nothing else to retain it.

Be careful not to move the operating arm whilst re fitting the box, it can come out of engagement and lead to unnecessarily taking the box off again. String/tape/wire/laccy bands on the arm are an aid to stop it moving whilst your heaving it all about.
