mi16 engine dry stored

Recommended Posts

i have a mi16 engine from a 88 405 which was running fine when taken out of car a few years ago . What would be best to do before putting it in a 205 apart from timing belt , water pump, would there be any need to take it apart as it was running great ???

2 ways you can do it, new belt and crack on

or take the head off and stick a fresh gasket in it after checking the bores, sump off and inspect the bearings, new liner seals .

Timing belt and pump, do all the seals while you are there, likewise while it’s out do the fly end crank seal and the hockey sticks. Pull the sump check the shells and if worn replace as it’s much easier while it’s out of the car. Baffle the sump whilst there. I’m not sure I’d disturb the head gasket etc. And it’s fairly do able in the car as well should it need it.
