Acceptable Play In Torsion Bar Splines

What is acceptable play in the torsion bar when located in the trailing arm?

 

Just stripped down a beam with aftermarket 22mm TBs, source unknown, and there is a bit of wobble-ness when they're located in the arm with the offset washer & little bolt done up. Tried the 22mm bars and a set of standard bars in 2 other pairs of arms and they're all the same. May well be me being a bit anal, but it's been a while since I've built a beam. Reading the old Haynes manual, they suggest that the bars should be located with a hammer & drift. Both my sets of bars go in by hand!
