Recommended Posts

After some struggle the car now runs fine , but it seems to not have a Rev limit it goes over 6900 so i was scared and stoped , i really dont know where the limiter should be but for an 8v mine its pretty high i think or im wrong? or did it goe to 7000?

That's too high, the standard rev limit for a 1.9 is about 6250RPM. A 1.6 goes to about 6750.

Edit: Don't trust the rev counter, they are notoriously inaccurate!

Worth remembering though that rev counter accuracy can vary massively.

Also, if it's Jetronic then the limiter can be removed altogether by a quick ECU modification so it's possible (but unlikely) a previous owner has done that.

Some "performance" ML1.3 chip remove the rev limiter by setting it around 15000 rpm.
Maybe yours was just set around 7000 by a guy that knew the ECU a bit better.
