What adjustment is required after replacing AFM?

Recommended Posts

Hello guys,

Long time lurker here and this is my first post.

Recently I replace my AFM with a refurbished one from rebelcar and making adjustment on the mixture screw but couldn't get the car to start. Switching back to my old AFM and it starts fine.

I thought it could be a faulty AFM but am I missing some prior adjustment for the car to be able to start?

This was the recommendation by the seller:

"--

In general, the issue comes either from the ignition system, or from the injection system. The whole components related to those systems shall be checked one by one.

Can be checked :

The igniter capsule

The ignition wire

Distribution

Gas pressure

Butterfly housing

--"

Appreciate for any guidance as I am very new to the car scene.

-Kenny

Welcome to the forum!

It sounds like the refurbished AFM is either faulty or the wrong type.

Is the new AFM the same part number as your old one?

You say it starts fine using the old AFM but does it rev up and drive at least reasonably well too? If it does then the new one is almost certainly the problem.

Thank you!

The part number is the same on both AFM (0 280 202 109).

It does rev up and can be driven using the old AFM but there are signs of kangarooing at 1st and 2nd gear, also when you release and step on throttle pedal again.

I have never been on a good condition Pug here, as the car is so rare in my country, so its difficult to compare what good feels like.
