engine removal installation

Recommended Posts

hello everyone

I have been looking around for some good information or tutorial in how to remove/ install a tu engine very low-tech approach.

Could anybody help in this way?

if so could we start a thread? I know it can be relatively straight forward, but I dont want to make a mess.

I have been given a tu3s engine , as the original owner plans to install a mi16 engine, so if I get the stuff out I can keep the 1,4 engine.

much appreciated.

Hi,

You should divide the things in clear steps:

1. Remove Battery

2. Drain all the liquids (Oil, Coolant, Transmission Oil)

3. Remove Driveshafts and then build the front suspension back together

4. Air box and all air intake hoses

5. Remove slam panel and radiator

6. Remove exhaust pipe

7. Hoses to indoor heat exhanger

8. Speedo cable

9. Clutch cable

10. Gear linkage

11. All the wiring to engine and gearbox

12. support the engine from below

13. Open all the engine support bolts (Left, Right, below)

14. lift the engine/gearbox up and away

15. Separate engine and gearbox from each others

16. Remove clutch assemble and fly wheel

17. Renew the rear main seal from the new engine

18. Renew the main shaft seal from the gear box

19. Renew the clutch assembly

20. Put everything back in reverse order

Note:

- Take a lot of photo's from every step

- Organize as good as you ever can all the parts you remove

- Write notes from each step into paper

Important:

- When you get tired or too stressed, take a pause, eat, drink, rest and take it easy

Hi,

I believe that with 309 you have to remove the engine from the bottom and with 205 by lifting it.

If you don't have a lifting crane, you can put a tough wood or metal bar on top of the engine bay and use for example a chain hoist or similar for lifting.
