1.9 GTI Sorrento Green Limited Edition

I have just brought a 1.9 GTI 1990 in Sorrento Green which I believe is a limited edition.  The trader who sold it me I am not sure he was aware how rare the car was.  The car has 2 previous owners from new, covered 96k miles and has power steering, grey leather interior and grey carpets.  Does anybody know are these limited editions desirable in today's market ?  Mine has a very extensive history and had a fresh paint job which has been done to a high standard.  The car is pretty much standard and has been very well looked after with no expense spared over the years.

 

Does anyone have an idea of it's value in todays market ?

That's definitely a limited edition model. It looks pretty tidy too. The rear suspension looks a bit low though.

 

I wouldn't want to put a figure on it but based on your description and that one photo it's probably worth a decent amount IMO.

I couldn't hazard a guess at the value - prices are literally all over the place lately, from £500 to £40,000 and everything in between.

 

What I can tell you is that it looks great. I always wanted a Sorrento. Enjoy it.

I have a Sorrento green Special Edition myself. Because of their short production run registrations are always either G or H. Yes, they are rare. Only 300 1,9 litre cars were ever made and after a fair bit of research less than 100 remain. You have orange front indicators (which look way better than the later clear version) and the earlier version tail lamps. They are classified as Phase 1.5 version cars. Sorrento green was later offered as an optional colour but these were Phase 2 cars and carried different lights and trim. Look after her. There's very few of us left. Difficult to put a value on them but I wouldn't accept a penny less than £25,000 which I think is reasonable considering I've had several offers to buy her. My advice. Don't sell; enjoy. The love for these cars is ridiculous and even parked among Ferrari's, McLaren's, Porsche's and Lamborghini's people always stop to chat.
