Recommended Posts

jamie_1992

I purchased a thermo mocal sandwich plate for use with my oil cooler but have gone to fit it and i think I need a different center bolt as I can’t see how I could fit it to work

the engine in question is a gti6

il add a couple of pics as it’s easier to tell what I’m on about

The long bit goes into the block and short bit screws into that to take the filter from what I remember. Should be straight forward.

The longer bit is a smaller diameter than the short one supplied and the housing dose not sit true on it

I have tried fitting it with both and neither work it’s as if I need a straight male to male bit to screw into the block to then screw the smaller adapter to 94638D4E-F2E1-4DCF-9508-6103A98DD336.thumb.jpeg.e1596e438c5b0152150a411b279e518a.jpegB93B5CE0-9CDC-432F-8AAB-71D39E3F675F.thumb.jpeg.caf26c99f28b44b6bb675c81afb7c4eb.jpeg6CA6D697-218F-4201-B0C1-EA75AB336051.thumb.jpeg.743c51a8ab77a7b240584cf238518a0b.jpeg

You need a short male threaded piece that screws into the block. Then use the short adaptor to mount the sandwich plate.

Any XU, I expect, which has the oil filter fit straight on the block

Any engine that uses an M20 filter within reason, I've used a vauxhall one before.

Just to round this up, I purchased a threaded insert off miles and the plate fits perfect
