Engine cuts out

Recommended Posts

Dogbolter

Hi all, newbie here.

I've had a 205GTi 1.6 and a 309 GTi 1.9/ Both cars had a problem with the engine cutting out when slowing down and the resolution was to set the idle around 1k I'm about to buy another GTi on an auction site and wanted to know if this issue had ever been fixed. I seem to remember a software update was available.

Sorry if this is a repeat question, but search didn't come up with anything.

No such thing as a “software update” on a 1980’s ECU I’m afraid.

All it needs is the injection system in particular the throttle body setting up properly.

Which is well documented in the Haynes manual.
