Hi, can the 205 stand on its wheels without a drive shaft fitted? I am removing the engine for respraying the car, but the car needs to be moved witout the engine and thus without the drive shafts.

Are the drive shafts from the 1.9 dfz cti equal to the 1.6 gti?

You can but you'll damage wheel bearings if you plan on moving it without the driveshafts .. best to fit the shafts and torque up the shaft nuts .

1.6 shafts are smaller dia. as well as the splined end which goes in the hub .. 1.9 are thicker .

Best put an old cv joint or shaft on.

At a pinch a long nut and bolt and a couple of big spreader washers,

it doesnt have to be massive tight, just enough to stop it popping out as you push it around.

The  front wheel bearings in two halfs, if there is nothing to clamp it together the outside outer race falls out with the hub and disc attached to it and your stuck needing a wheel bearing doing.
