Cracked Engine Block

Recommended Posts

Deantracy17

I have recently bought a cti 1.6. It was sold with a water leak. Upon investigation, I have found a crack in the block underneath the head bolts see picture. I would like to replace the block. Not sure if I have the xu5j or xu5ja? Does anyone know if the block is the same. Was planning on complete engine overhaul while it's out of the car. Would appreciate any help on this. I assume new block is the only fix, but would love to hear of any other suggestions? Looks like a pretty serious crack bearing in mind the amount of coolant it is loosing. Cheers.
