Thermostat Cap gasket?

Recommended Posts

ATK

Think my coolant leak is from my thermostat cap leaking. Earlier metal cap type.

Anyone know what gasket is used and the part number, and how manh are used?

I assume you are referring to the cap on the expanion bottle. Before assuming it is the cap at fault it maybe the thermostat causing excessive pressure due to being in the closed position when the engine gets hot, then causing water to come out the small overflow tube.

Nope, referring to the cap over the thermostat - bolted on with two bolts. Thermostat underneath.

on the earlier thermostat its a rubber gasket either side of the thermostat, later ones is a single gasket with a groove that the thermostat fits into.

most thermostats come with the gasket/seal, easier to just buy a new thermostat.

There is someone on ebay selling an actual paper gasket they have made  for the thermostat metal cover I noticed a while back, might be worth a look.

Ebay number 232542122094
