Yeah, a couple of people have done it on here. Someone even got some 6x9s in there (but we forgave them). Do a search.

It's a case of attacking the existing speaker hole high up in the door with a dremmel, just widening the gap. Make a template, do it slowly, and you should be fine. The problem I saw was getting a decent solid baffle on that tinfoil door, but I'm sure plenty of sound deadening should help with that.

hmmmmm

after speaking to my local ripspeed specialist he suggested buying 13cm comp's putting these where the door speakers r at the mo and fitting the 17 cm in a pod by the door pocket, in order to get bass up front?

good plan? <_<

Yeh.

BUT its hard to get right.

You need to get 6.5in woofers that kick low, a 6.5 in sub would work a treat. Then you need a crossover between the 17cm and the 13cm, then the normal cross over.

It might be worth looking at proper 3 way systems, but they cost a lot.

I have put 6x9s in mine and the front end bass is better though the speakers aren't the best that I have used (they didn't give much bass off compared to other 6x9s when on the shelf but they were spares when I was pioneering the "6x9 inthe front door by hacking the hole out" so I used those <_< . It actually turned out quite good because these 6x9 are 4-way so there is still a lot of midrange and top end with them.

I've got similar sized speakers on an MDF shelf at the back. To me it sounds good and gives a nice amount of bass without being too heavy though it can sound sub-like with some tracks.

some decent quality 6x9`s would sound pretty decent up front i remember jbl used to do a pair that cost something like £300 <_< im considering adding a pair of 6.5s to the existing 5 inchers in the front doors and maybe have a couple of 8" subs in the rear trim panels so i can do away with the sub in the boot
