It's a shame they've pulled out of the series. The flat plane crank and twin cam heads were a breath of fresh air.

Anytime. Sixes are in next year. It's such a stupid series. Production car racing is starting to gather momentum again. Hopefully they'll keep growing and sponsorship dollars will swap.

ahh probably ford ecoboost 3.5 v6 like the gt and similar things.

I don't blame Volvo for pulling the pin. They were clearly becoming the fastest in 2014-2015, so they nobbled them with aero restrictions to peg them back. Anything to maintain parity with stupid old push rod V8's. It is impressive how they get 650+hp out of 5000cc, 10:1 and 7500rpm however.

Was this Volvo V8 actually fitted to any cars or bespoke to the V8 race series?

it was based on the xc90's b8444s 4.4 developed by yamaha for volvo.
