C_W 3 1 Cars Posted December 10, 2003 Personally I don't bleed the brakes that often, in fact I haven't since I changed the fluid a year or 2 ago and have probably done nearly 20 track days since then. It's only a real problem when you have boiled the fluid and your trying to get some pedal pressure back. Though perhaps I should do soon. Tyre pressure is a difficult one, I just roll up and go on track with standard pressures, some say use more but on a hotter day they can go over 45psi anyway. Also it is a good idea to see how the tyre is wearing, sometimes adding a bit of air can prevent wearing out just the shoulders, so I would say go out on standard pressure and see how the car feels and how the tyres look and go from there. Oil level should be at max level. Particularly on a 205, fuel should be at least half way to prevent fuel surge and spoiling your lap when it cuts out round a particular corner. Tyre wear on a 205 is pretty light, and the best tyres to use are those on the limits or less if it's dry. Just changing the front tyres for spares is enough as the backs don't really suffer much unless it's an airfield. Open Pitlane preffered over sessioned events. Less pressure to have to go out at a certain time, more relaxed event and normally more track time overall. Warm up/sighting laps are always a good thing even if you *think* you know the circuit because you went there a few months previously. Give you and the car chance to familiarise and warm up. Just as important are cool down laps; particularly difficult and frustrating when on sessioned days on short circuits where I would prefer more time to cool the car down before coming in the pits.
