erbs 42 1 Cars Posted January 28, 2016 (edited) This would be nice to see again Would be good if this starts a fashion with old cars, maybe Peugeot could do this, i would certainly buy a brand new 205 gti http://www.topgear.com/car-news/classic/great-scott-delorean-making-comeback Edited January 28, 2016 by erbs
Slo 283 1 Cars Posted January 28, 2016 (edited) They've been making a new chassis for the delorean for years to sell with all the new parts that are left over from the 80s, imagine how much a new delorian would cost in 2017 ifs its still going to be made entirely out of stainless steel Edited January 28, 2016 by Slo
dobboy 231 2 Cars Posted January 28, 2016 Think i read on sky news this morning it's around £100k Fortuneately you can jump back to the 80's on your test drive and pay less for it ????
jackherer 543 Posted January 29, 2016 $100k US Dollars so about £70k. Apparently they will have three times the power but they're not changing anything else! The only significant DeLorean part that's going to be new is the V6 engine, which is great news for buyers. The original DeLorean engines only have 130 horsepower, while the new V6's will have between 350 to 400 horsepower http://money.cnn.com/2016/01/27/luxury/delorean-coming-back-to-the-future/
dobboy 231 2 Cars Posted January 29, 2016 i'm sure I read somewhere that the guy who designed Deloreans actually also designed fuel injection.
jackherer 543 Posted January 29, 2016 It's a Giugiaro design and Lotus did a lot of technical consultancy work on it but I don't think there is any connection to fuel injection, that's a pretty old concept.
dobboy 231 2 Cars Posted January 29, 2016 Yeah, but it was delorean who originally designed fuel injection years ago, and all the other manufacturers copied it, (i think)

Slo 283 1 Cars Posted January 29, 2016 (edited) it says on wiki the first petrol injection was used in 1902 must have been when this lightning happened and this silver thing appeared and they got some ideas from it lol Edited January 29, 2016 by Slo
Simes 248 2 Cars Posted January 29, 2016 Sadly, John Delorean, renowned for the cocaine smuggling issue / entrapment. I read years ago, late eighties, that all the political / engineering issues around Delorean caused the stress that ultimately triggered Colin Chapman's heart attack. Read John Delorean's story - it's pretty interesting. He was a top mover in American motoring history prior to setting up DMC.
2-Pugs 57 Posted January 29, 2016 I seem to recall seeing something on telly about that guy behind the (new) delorean motor company. He bought up all the stock years back and set up the company. They have something like 99% of the parts required to build one and they have a proper bucketload of some parts, hundreds and hundreds in some cases. Interesting, as if you have a delorean getting bits is actually very straightforward, quite the opposite to how you might expect!!!
Henry Yorke 269 3 Cars Posted January 31, 2016 I saw a Wheeler Dealers (or an american version) once where they did up a red painted one. It needed a new wing and this place that has all the parts in america had loads.... of right hand ones and no left ones...... (or it could have been other other way round!!) Reebmit 51 4 Cars Posted January 31, 2016 Awful car then, should think it will be awful now. It looked different but that was about it....
