Oil Filler Cap

Recommended Posts

Phil205

Hi,

I tried to top up the oil at the weekend. The oil filler cap would not come off. It would move slightly, but did not want to come off.

I have had the cap off plenty of times. Sometimes easy, sometimes hard.

Is there a trick to getting them off ?

If it breaks, is this the best option for a replacement (as in, will it fit ok, not worried about the price) :-

Thankyou.

Mines always like this when its cold, not ideal for long term but a bit of moderate heat from a hairdryer should release itthink the tube must be like a willy in that it shrinks when its cold

that cap should do the trick, its the seals that cause the sticking, they get hard and swell with age heat and oil vapours.

If there is any o.e stock left the price was under a tenner, but they are marked NFP so might be hard to track down.
