So which one do I use to commute to work ? either my 1.6 205 gti or my 2005 1.9 transporter van?

What sort of mpg do ppl get from their 205's

varying roads and distance. not going to be a regular route every single day. that's why the decision is so hard!

Leave the 205 under a carport all year and commute on a Vespa. Oh, dam that's what I do!

If the GTI is in good condition you shoukd be able to manage 30mpg in mixed conditions, inc not hanging around. Mid 30s on longer runs at a cruise.

Just use it. I can't imagine the van is a practical commuter vehicle unless it's serving a purpose at the same time.

My 205 is far from a minter, the usual wear and tear for a 22 year old car that's not had much love over years! Its structurally quite good but cosmetically quite poor!

When I sort the engine bay wiring loom will use it to commute I reckon :)

I get 35-38mpg from my 1.6. But that is straight out of the door onto an A road then a B road with little (often no) other traffic at the times I use it.
