Gti6 Kangaroo'ing On Part Throttle

It seems my car is not liking being left out in the rain.

 

The crank sensor went a few weeks ago but was promptly replaced. Car then drove fine but sat for ca. 3-4 weeks unused. Fired it up last weekend and for the first few minutes the engine would bog down when pulling out of junctions/traffic lights etc. After a good blast this problem cleared itself.

 

However, at slow speeds <20mph on light part throttle, the car slowly starts to kangaroo. Does anyone have a clue as to the cause?

This sounds very similar to mine when the cheapo ebay vss failed. I went for a genuine one from pug and the car was so much smoother.

I've got a genuine VSS, but is there anything I can do to check if that's the failed part (other than swap it out obviously)?
