Rev Limiter

hey all, just got a omex rev limiter for my car as it doesnt have one. just wondering what rpm i should set it at??

If the bottom end is standard then 6750 and no more.

The factory rev counters aren't very accurate so if you set the limiter using one you might be ~500rpm above or below where you want to be.

yeah i will be setting by the factory rev counter on the dash, i will set abit lower for safty, thanks for that.

I have a somewhat standard bottom end, albeit 1.9, electronically limited to 7250 iirc. Frequently visits there too :)

wow thats pretty high i think the red line is at 6000 rpm on my rev counter!!

not really, std 1.9 limit is 6200, dans engine has uprated valve springs and a wilder cam.

 

1.6 goes to 6700 or so as standard im sure, so a few more wont hurt, depends where the power is but the stock hatch rallycross boys uses to take them to 8k quite often!!

 

not that theres any need to take them that far at all, they tend to make peak power before 7k.

oh ok, i take mine upto 6k,so i can rev it abit then before going up a gear, thats good to know as its not a road car anyway.
