The commutator on the blower has worn out, it has worn a nice ridge, width of penny I'd say

 

What fans are compatible with 205's, the newer the better

 

On the phase 1 fans when you turn the fan off it still blows and you can still hear the fan

 

Always had this even on my phase 1 I had 20 years ago, the lever never quite shuts it off
