Xud11 Bottom End

Recommended Posts

Jarrus

Is it possible to use an xud11 bottom end with gti6 pistons in the gti6 block? Or are the wrist pins different sizes?

Just thinking out loud (dangerous i know...) since i have the engine out of my gti6 at the moment and an xud11 at my lock up doing nothing

(Xud11 has a 92mm crank)

Thanks for houmoring me :)

Brett

you'd need pistons and rods to make it work, and also likely to need mapped ecu

Remap of course :)

even if the rod were too long and they fit the pistons i could use the diesel block instead

you need to research this.

the diesel block, rod and piston are designed for a high compression ratio - you need to consider your choice of cam and engine requirement before going further.

it can be done but not very cheap

pistons will not fit the diesel rods, you need specific rods and pistons for the build,

gti6 length rod would work but needs shorter crown piston obviously, however gti6 rod is not bushed so wont work with aftermarket pistons.

you cant use the xud11 block easily, but xud9 can be used

It's also different bore so the block would have to be bored out.

Best bet is to do it properly if you wanna do it. Or just make a simple XU10J4 with the XU9J4 crankshaft for higher compression.

Extra CC's almost always involves crank, pistons and rods, where at least one of the two latter is custom made to your specs.

I haven't got the money for custom internals so it will get left alone in that sense,

XU9 crank would be nice for some extra cc's but I plan on changing the cams out for some fruiter items so valve to piston contact is a concern so it will be left with stock internals with pocketed pistons
