205monster 3 Posted July 10, 2014 i have a 1.6 gti track car with drum rear brakes. the whole car is stripped just leaving the battery in the boot. the rear brakes are getting very hot. the hammerite blue paint on the drums has turned black! i have the original brake compensator in the front, would this affect the rear braking now it has no weight in the back? is it worth removing it and fitting a bias valve instead? the back felt abit like it was stepping out under braking when using my a539 tyres but felt perfect with my a048s. ive took the drums off and its good and clean just smells hot even a few days after the last track day. i have been reading alot of threads on here about the bias valves, and people say use for track cars, will this help the back end? also i take it i remove the front compensator? as the brakes have got so hot i will no doubt change the fluid to.
