Found Some Spares Time To Put It All Together

Recommended Posts

I have had a bit of a clean up. Found a non sunroof shell. ( very rusty).

A rebuilt 8v engine with cam.

A set of 45 dellorto carbs. A set of knackered weber 45s but with 8v manifold.

Big brake kit, hdi I think.

4 mi16 exhaust manifolds, 3 inlet manifolds one shortened. A 2.0 mi16 cylinder head. 3 gearboxes one isn't mine.

Numerous starter motors, alternators, dizzy's ecus coils and a selection of nuts bolts and miscellaneous parts.

Now my 205 hasn't turned a wheel for some time. It's engine blew up about 5 years ago.

So a plan has hatched, turn it into a 8v on 45's with mapped ignition.

Good plan. In the same situation to you slightly rusty non sunroof shell, gti6 engine, 3 spare gearboxes and plenty of spares to make a track car.

Just need the motivation to piece it together :)

Update;

Piston is fried on the mi16 lump pistonbroke1.jpg[/url]

8v engine was fitted but never started, lack of compression!

All the bits are back in the boot. Need motivation.

Bit of an update, got all the parts together to build the mi16.

So I decided to build a 8v, I had sold the 45's so it was tb's and KMS ECU which I found in my shed.

Mei has donated a oil spray bar, which appears to be the only 8v part I didn't have.

It's running, but I have a few issues.

I am sure it has sri pistons, so what compression ratio is that with a std combustion chamber?

It has a lumpy cam, and that was the idea behind the pistons.

That photo was taken when the engine was built years ago.

Just need to map it and see what it makes.

Fix the oil leaks and change the rad, fit seats, brakes, .........

The 2nd set were knackered, used them for spares a long time ago.

Ok so a quick update sri pistons result in a 12.5 - 12.7 :1 cr so it isn't suitable for a dizzy that's for sure.

Luckily I have mapped ignition.

Oil leak was big end cap rubber seal.

Dyno testing resulted in 147.7 bhp with basic cam timing and rough guess fuel and ignition settings.

Wasn't easy with no seat on the dyno so seat rails being fitted for next week's dyno set up.

Looking for 160 bhp and no knock could be a big ask.

Hi there, sounds like you have a good on going project. Would you by any chance have a pair of cams knocking about for a mi16? Thought it maybe worth asking with all the spares you had around. Cheers Scott

Hi Scott

I may well have a set of std mi16 cams knocking about.

Hi there, Anthony managed to help me out with some, thanks though. I've plenty of other bits to get , just keeping an eye out on here, for when something comes up.
