Stdt Gear Knob - How To Remove It ?!

Recommended Posts

Well, it's a bit embarrassing to ask this but I simply don't see how to get the gear knob off the stick - it doesn't seem to unscrew and I can't see any clip - can anyone help, plse?

Twist and pull and don't punch yourself in the face.

you cant beat a bit of lubrication on your knob ! grip the shaft firmly and gently tap the knob with a soft mallet .take care , have you seen the asking price of a replacement !

Last one I did shattered when I twisted it, maybe an idea to warm it up with a hair dryer first??

Sit amidships in your car, the stick and knob between your legs. Grab your stick right below the knob, having the top fingers cupping the bottom of the knob. Swiftly and strongly yank on the knob upwards, you might need a few thrusts. A good technique that some men enjoy is attempting to rotate the knob as you yank it. Lubrication helps too, as well as heat.

We've tried all sorts of effort to pull & twist but the bugga won't shift! Even shot some penetrating fluid in - no help.

What the heck is (not) happening? This should be simple, no??
