Recommended Posts

I'm sure another topic that's been covered numerous times but I failed in my attempt at using the search function.

I have 3 wires left over for my dlc plug connector could anyone tell me the what wire numbers go to which pin number on the 16pin connector please?

TIA

Dizzee, the ecu/engine wiring diag for 16v only shows 3 wires to the socket, 426, 140, and 141 to pin 3,7, and 15.

Maybe the car side diag shows the others?

426 is tacho input

140/141 is data

the others are needed to power up the scanner or similar reader

Dizzee, can pin 1 and 16's 12v supply be supplied simply from the same 12v.....i.e linked, from anywhere handy?

TIA

Permanant 12v is always live, (imagine a single wire straight from the positive terminal of the battery) it never goes to 0v even when cranking.

Ignition 12v is only live when the ignition is on, and will be 0v with ignition off.

Bit of a thread revival here but if I want to do this to mine and I add the extra positives and earth over and above the standard three wires will it allow me to read info with a cheaper obd type reader rather than having to use a £1000 Snap-On jobbie?

Is it the lack of these extra wires that make reading codes impossible on a ph1 GTI-6 engine with the 2 pin plug?

Mine has only got two stubs at the moment for 140 & 141 but I can easily extend them, piggy back the Rev counter feed and add the others, I'll go to a scrap yard and get a 16 pin plug from something.

Any thoughts?

neither, you need Peugeot planet, also called PP2000, they are not OBD compliant.

Not sure that's strictly true. I know a chap who's been able to get diagnostic data from one using the Snap-On Solus.

I do agree that everything else I've read on here and 306gti.com says they can't be read, but was just wondering if that's because as standard they only had three wires wired to the plug and adding the extra few made it a bit more "compatible".

Either way I'm still going to wire a plug and if it means that pp2000 will work then so be it.

cheapo argos code readers are obd2 witch will not read cars below 2000 of the top of my head.

You will need pp2000 or a snap on scanner to read it

I have peugeot plannet if you wanted to try it

Thankyou for the offer! I have access to a Snap-On Solus which works fine with it. All good!
