Recommended Posts

Probably been asked before.

I need a new hood for my 205 cti, does the manual hood fit the electric hood model?

Cheers

Roofs are identical except for the rear windows have a steeper slant because the rams that push/pull the roof need a wider swing to work. you will also need manual roof type rear windows too but yes it will bolt straight on but your rear windows will have gaps when you wind them up in the meantime.

See my restoration topic (sig) for pics of the 2 types of rear quarter windows.

So there is actually two types of roofs as mine is currently electric and would like to keep it that way. Anyone know hoe much the electric type hoods are?

Cheers

So cheapest option is to go for a manual roof and source some manual rear windows

What makes you say that? If youve already got an electric roof there wont be any difference in cost to reskin it. Whats wrong with your old one?

I think its the original hood and its f***ed to be honest. I will have to ring around and get some quotes for a re-skin.

That skin on ebay doesnt say whether its for a manual or an electric either and its not just a case of a bit more material round the rear windows either might give em a ring cos im thinking about buying a new skin too, while mine looks really good its at the stage where its starting to perish and will split big time in lots of places

Do a Google search for hood suppliers and you'll find a couple listing everything bar the metalwork, Cables, Inners, Outers, Sound deadening. Bank on the rear 3 seperate metal work parts needing replacement, thankfully these are reproduced now, I had to make mine. Fitting is a pain if you have not done one before, Hardest part is getting it tight without tearing it must be done in a warm garage at the very least

Cheers might be a summer job then. Eventually want my cti as a daily driver but maybe this year she can be a weekend and summer toy. Roof and seals is the last job on my list

Right ive bought a brand new front section for £75 posted. Not sure whether its manual style or electric yet but thought it was a steal. What else would be required to fit this. I.e new screws etc.... rear section is fine but probably replace as well.

Cheers

Depends what rotten on yours if its all intact you can reuse everything but the screws generally are a blob of rust by now.

If you've bought a manual skin it wont fit properly on your electric frame :excl:

I bought my hood from the USA, the shipping wasn't too bad to Germany, but the price for the US-made hood was great ($312), and the quality is excellent. You can choose vinyl like the CTI came from the factory (what I paid for), or the higher end cloth that comes with BMW and Porsche verts. They sell tops worldwide, so their shipping rates might be competitive for the UK too. Check them out: https://www.topsonline.com/model/Convertible_Tops_And_Accessories/Peugeot/1984_thru_1992_Peugeot_205.html

Installation was done by a local auto interior specialist, cost me 250 Euro with new cables.

I am trying to find a source for marine hardware, as I imagine those stainless screws are all used on boats too.

BAS only sell one type of roof canvas, I'd assume that it fits both the manual and electric roof frame.

I've almost got mine fitted, it's the same as the old canvas roof I've taken off and I'm converting from manual to electric.

Flaps at the side are a stick fit and trim off piece.
