Cylinder Liner Protrusion

Recommended Posts

mrfirepro

Haynes manual states cylinder liner protrusion is between 0.03 and 0.10mm.

What I install just the liners I get 0.03, then when I install the O rings I can't get any better than .28mm even though I have given them a little persuasion with a block of wood and a mallet.

Am I missing something, or is this usual and the head compresses the liner seal, if so the Haynes manual does not mention this

Measurements are without the liner seals in place, so sounds like yours is (just about) within spec.

The liner seals will be squashed when the head is fitted and torqued down.

Thanks Anthony,

That does seem logical to me, it's that the Haynes manual is so specific in that you fit the O rings then the liners and then measure.

Great can get on now

as said, the seals will be new and un squashed, the tolerances you are given are for a block that has already had a head torqued down usually and had the seals allready compressed ..
