How To Set Ignition Timing/firing Order On The Dizzy

Recommended Posts

johnhenry

Afternoon all

Ive just received my dizzy back from H&H after a rebuild. It has a new dizzy cap on it, and has been rotated about, so it isn't how i left it/has the 1/2/3/4 markings i made on the dizzy for spark plugs.

Ive just used the search for topics on here, and got bloody confused, probably due to the rain and cold more than anything.

'How I've gone about setting ignition firing order: (1-3-4-2 going with the rotar arm of the dizzy rotating anticlockwise)

1) Connect dizzy

2) I need to get cylinder 1 (closest to the dizzy) at TDC on compression stroke

3) Whichever port/node the rotor arm is point at now is taken with cylinder 1 HT Lead

4) Then go anti clockwise around it (following the rotor arms movement). So 3 - 4 - 2.

Am i being a div?

Thanks John

Theyve probably just bunged the cap on without knowing, not that it makes any difference as long as it points down/back when you fit it.
