1.1 To Gti Spec Front Suspension

Recommended Posts

Basher

I have a 1.1 fitted with vtr engine and a few engine and suspension mods including gaz coilovers. Now the front arms need replaced but is it worth the hassle to upgrade to gti spec, are the struts comparable? and I guess I will need arms, subframe ect... Or am I better off just running as, is there any noticeable improvement for fast road use

It's a worth while upgrade for sure, couple of things to point out though.

Firstly the gear change mount on the subframe is in a different place and a different height on xu engined cars, so you need to remove your tu item and weld it to the gti subframe in the correct location.

Only other thing is the arb setup on Gtis connects to the struts via drop links unlike the base model track cotrol arm setup. As you are running gaz shocks I wouldn't mind betting they already have the tabs in place the drop links.

You are correct though you will need the subframe, wishbones and drop links.
