so this is going to be be my build just looking to see if you would change anything or have any tips all of witch will be greatly appreciated

block - im thinking either 1.6 or mi pistons ? other than that oem rebuild

head - rebuild + skim ( how much?) + mild port with 300ish degree cam ( newman ph4 ?)

also have magnex 4-1 exhaust mani on hand already

im going with bike carbs for this build , why ? well im on abit of a budget and I already have the manifold plus a work mate used to race motor bikes so is very handy at setting them up ;)

would like to get 160 if possible ?

again thanks - jack

ment to add this car is going to be a weekend toy only

cheers

you'll get easily up to 170 on that cam and compression with a decent head tidyup and the right tract length and shape, something I have yet to ever see from a bike carb setup unfortunately, I would urge you to save up that little bit more and get it on a solid mounted bike throttle body setup at the least.,

DCC has that very setup (PH4 and 1.6 pistons in a 1.9 mild head, std dcoe type inlet and magnex manifold, and jenvey TB45's) which made 167 on carbs with the previous owner.

It was heading for a good chunk more than that on throttle bodies when his flywheel became departed from the crank dowel...

i think the problem with bike carbs is no one takes the time to set them up properly , on paper CV carbs on a bike should ( that's a big should ) be better in every way then age old side drafts
