Hi everyone, my first post here after spending a lot of time reading through a lot of the topics for a while. Thank you all for such a great resource!!

Just bought my first car, and wanted to share it with everyone. it's an '88 1.9 GTI with 1.6 gearbox, 306 brakes (I think) and a few other bits.

I'm not fully sure what phase it is, and, therefore, what bits and bobs it should have standard - eg. it has electric windows, but not CL... should it have central locking?? Am on the look out for a standard radio as well to fill the gaping hole in the centre console.

The front seats aren't correct to the cars age I don't think, and don't match the rears (which can't be used anyway because of the cage). They seem to be in fairly good condition but the mechanisms are a little wobbly, is this normal?? Would have preferred inertia belts, but am actually not too fussed now im starting to get used to the harnesses.

Very happy with the engine so far, but gear box seems a little loose selecting a gear and makes a small knocking noise when out of gear and clutch is disengaged - will have to see how this develops.

Anyway, some pictures (ignore the badly positioned steering lock!) :

You're right, the front seats aren't original. Oddly enough the headrests on those seats aren't even from a 205, I don't recognise them but I imagine they are from a later model Peugeot.

The loose gear change is probably linkages, there is a balljoint attached to the subframe with a single nut that often works loose or you may need new gear rods, uprated ones are widely available.

I think I saw this car for sale on Autotrader? If it's the same one it had been on the market for ages so I hope you negotiated a good deal!
