Why The Thicker Head Bolt Spacer On The Back Bolt Closest The Timing B

Recommended Posts

Evening all

probably a dumb question, im good at asking them :/

but I was chatting to the local garage who are really good, but none of us could work out why one of the head bolts has a much larger spacer than the others?

They were saying it only gives it a much smaller amount of thread in the block for the head bolt to grip into. therefor applying more stress onto the limited thread it has?

Ive changed the headgasket myself several times, and always thought it seemed odd, but never remembered to as anyone.

Cheers

john
