1.9Gti Starter Clicking But Thats All!

Hi all

 

I know its a topic that many have an opinion on but i can't find and answer!

 

My 1.9gti wont start on its own The starter clicks but that's it.

I replaced wire no 46 but had the same result. Although if i use the same wire to power a relay the car starts first time.

The thing is i want to find the fault rather than have the relay i've fitted permanently.

 

My next thought is the ignition barrel/black box could that possibly have a weak connection?

 

Any opinions or ideas?

yea mine does the same thing and has done so for many years Km's even took the starter off to have it checked but didn't find any faults

If the wire from the brown plugs to starter isnt the issue, just keep working back tracing the voltage drop.

Unplugged the fuse for the alarm today and the car starts fine! Trouble is the fuel pump was permanently running when the alarm was off :/
