Mei

Servicebox shows four part numbers for beam tubes.

Were there different types fitted during production, and what would the difference be?

Mike

chassis number will narrow this down.

The beam tube I have under my bed is 5148 48, and that fits my 89 phase 1.5

You need the last type, early beams have torsion bars with lower spline count, these are very rare.

No need to buy new though, plenty of donor beams about if yours is worn out.

New beam tubes come with new bearings already seated, but they are close to £300.

ROFL

I paid less as it was 7 years ago, you know, inflation, exchange rates and all that

Of course I got a discount as well, waved my PSOOC membership card back then.

if you are sourcing new genuine parts, you will find that if you bought a new beam tube, they don't come with seals or the rubber mounts.

genuine front mounts are NLA, but the rear block mounts are.

if you were able to source genuine parts for a rebuild, you'd be looking at over £400 on parts.

personally, i'm not keen on pattern parts, and all the axles i build are built using genuine parts (inc front mounts)
