Not posted much on here but been around the french scene for far to many years

My main toy for the last 12 years has been an axgt

It was standard but now running a forged jp4 turbo and a be4/6 hybrid box

Currently just shy of 400bhp with water/meth + the direct port nitrous

Not wanting to ruin this on track and wanting to concentrate on drag racing with it i started looking for a cheap track car, having owned about 5 205 gtis and a few 309's ( and a zx16v) i knew it had to be 205

This one came in to the mot station next t my workshop and i jokingly said id give him £200 for it as the plate must be worth that, after they couldnt get it running the owner agreed and sold it to me

Completly standard 1986 1.6 gti non sunroof

The non running turned out to be an ign switch fault, the plan is to build a cheap track car with bargain used parts, so far ive picked up a gti6 engine and box from ebay for £112 ( the box is now in the ax so ill atick with the 1.6 box)

Smooth tailgate and auto bonnet for £20

Cobra monaco seats, subframes and harneses for £25

4 1.9 speedlines minus tyres for £5

And a pair of brand new mk2 rear lights and clear indicators for £27

Now need to get it stripped and start building, also looking out for a n/s door as mine is dented

It's good to see a value for money 205 16v is still possible, I thought those days were over. My best result was a 205 1.6 with blown head gasket for £30 (from Atomic Jon on here IIRC) and a £62 BX 16v from ebay for a total of £92. But that was at least ten years ago.

I think my bargains have been had as the sellers didnt know what they had, the breakers near me had the bonnet, i saw the car come in and asked for the bonnet he just thought it was a crappy old 205 bonnet so only asked £20 :)

A few other bits ive come across from tuning other peoples french cars for 10 years

Ive never liked the early lights, so these the interior and engine will all be sold

Been told the mint mk1 dash is worth a bit

If it had its original engine in i would restore back to factory mint but it doesnt so cant see it ever being worth alot

I don't think numbers matching is that important, only that it has a 1600 xu :D
