Need A Photo/explanation Of Coilovers With Eccentric Top Mounts

Recommended Posts

johnnyboy666

I could do with a photo of coilovers with eccentric top mounts, and any bits in between.

I'm just trying to get straight in my head what goes where.

I know the thread on the shaft will probably need turning down.

Then I assume it starts with the spring followed by a spring top cup/cap/pan thing?

Then the top mount?

does the spring pan just butt up against the spherical bearing?

Is there anything that holds things together or is it just the tension of the spring?

I've heard mention of top hats?

Then the top nut? Standard top nut or different?

Its been a while since I put my gaz coilovers on , but I'm assuming theres a shoulder after the thread that stops the rod going up too far?

Hopefully some of that made sense!

Cheers

its pretty ruddy straightforward tbh.

note the much longer top spindle required for spherical jointed top mounts, these are Peugeot sport UK type with the big bearing, same one as BBM use, utilising a standard steel top mount plate with an insert welded in which accepts the spherical joint.

Straight forward if you've done it before ;) cheers for those pics, that spring pan, is the bit thats the same o/d as the top hat washer a part of the pan or a separate washer?
