1.9 Engine Losing All Oil

Recommended Posts

frs3052

Posting for my dad, he had a j plate 1.9 that's done 120k. Today it lost all oil pressure not long after all its oil. When you fill it up again its leaking out near the crank case (?)

I appreciate that might be pretty vague but any ideas what it could be and cost to repair?

possibly the crank bolt on the cambelt come loose, and as a result its thrown a rod. pretty difficult to speculate without photos of where its leaking from.

Yeah I know its pretty vague. That sounds like the location from what he has described. Ill get a pic off him tomorrow.

If it is that what's a rough figure for putting it right?

New engine if its thrown a rod as it will have smashed a big fk off hole in the side of it. Could just be a crank seal is it on the pulley end do you mean where the cam belt is?

Just to update on this. Wasn't as serious as he feared, one of the oil pipes had burst spraying the oil to where he thought it was leaking from
