Diffrence Between 206 And 306 Gti Engines

now I know the 206 engine has less bhp than the 306 but is it the same engine?,and if so where does the 306 get the extra bhp from?

just trying to improve my knowledge.

the 206 GTI 180 engine is obviously more powerful than the 6, they are quite different, 206 is a EW engine, 306 is a XU motor.

206 had two variants, the standard gti which was the 138 bhp EW10J4, and the 180 which was the 177 bhp EW10J4S (180 refers to PS afaik)

 

its an all alloy engine with cast in liners, not separate removable items like the alloy XU engines, more in Sandy's topic -

Embrace The Ew!

 

 

The 306 uses the iron block XU10J4RS engine.
