GWtaylor 8 1 Cars Posted April 18, 2013 Do many people use the 106 GTI engine as a conversion for 205's instead of mi16's and turbo's and if not why not?
welshpug 1,627 Posted April 18, 2013 its not a particularly common conversion but there are a handful out there, a couple in the projects section. I'd imagine the main reasons is that a larger capacity will always net higher BHP/Torque per £, also the constraints of the weaker MA box hamper things a little if you want bigger power, though not such a big issue as BE conversions aren't too hard to do any more. other thing is that its not a light lump, they're heavier than EW engines and about on a par with Alloy XU's, which are all larger capacity apart from the XU5, specific figures I'm unsure of though.
