1990 H - Clarion Or Philips

Recommended Posts

I have a 1990 H Reg - Would this have had a Clarion or Philips stereo as standard - Or could it have had either depending on dealer fit?

My nan's 1.1 was clarion on a 'J' and my '89 F gti was clarion (at some stage of its life) if that helps.

It does thanks, I figured it would be a Clarion to be honest - Shame as there's an original Philips HU in great condition with manual etc on ebay.

I though that E plates would have Phillips and F plate onwards Clarion.

My 1 owner 24K mile 1.9GTI which was 1989F had a Clarion fitted.

I always thought they were factory fitted though, not dealer fitted?

Ok fellas thank you - Figured as much. Will have to keep my eyes peeled for an original Clarion.

Stufarri - Opinions seem to differ on if they were factory or dealer fitted... I thought factory too, but found a thread with people suggesting otherwise.

Clarion without a doubt, Change over was 1989/90 from phase 1.5 to phase 2. But all/most head units where dealer fit as I had trouble when I had a new one when they fitted a lesser model
