Xud9Td Aux Belt Problem.

Hey All

I'm having an issue with the alternator belt on my Citroen Synergie. A while ago it lost all power and wouldn't drive so I had a look over it and it turned out that the alternator belt had jumped over by a groove. Where the belt had moved over the inner rib had gone into the timing cover and got tangled up and caused the timing to go a tooth out.

Now, fast forward to this week. I have fitted a new timing belt and timed it all up. I have been driving it around for a couple of days and the exact same thing has happened again

Anyone heard of this happening before?

Cheers, Dave :)

probably a dead pas pump or crank pulley causing it.

Come to think of it both times it's happened has been during/just after a 3 point turn.

Would play in the pump pulley be worse on full lock?

Could be either. Load on the belt drive will be highest when the power steering is loaded up, so if the bottom pulley is dead then this is the time you will get max deflection in it.
