ORB 227 1 Cars Posted March 28, 2013 As per my other topic, where I fitted a 405 CL unit to my gti I have another unrelated question so I thought I'd start a new topic, I have both keys for the CL unit, one is fine, one is poorly. As you can see the button is incomplete. As this is the correct key chip for my sender I want to restore it. I know there are buttons you can buy to solder on to the board, but I'm sure I just need a couple of little bits? Can you think of a way? I was thinking cut up an old TV remote for the button pad thing?
Weser 30 Posted March 28, 2013 You can get replacement cases on ebay which look good as new and then solder a new button on I think that would be the easiest way. Just put your board in the nee case - jobs a gooden!
ORB 227 1 Cars Posted March 28, 2013 I have seen them to be honest. I nearly bought one, but the soldering thing scares me a little.
Weser 30 Posted March 28, 2013 yer I suppose it can be daunting I forget this as I do it all the time at work. Would you know someone that you could take it to? Its only 4 legs to solder isn't it?
ORB 227 1 Cars Posted March 28, 2013 I'm sure I am capable. I can solder wires etc well, just never really soldered to a board ...
Phil H 16 Posted April 1, 2013 If you get another 405 fob, just gently pop off the button that is held by it's metal casing folded over and recover the concave disc below, pop it on you broken key and slip the button over and clip it in place...job done. ORB 227 1 Cars Posted April 2, 2013 Hmm, weirdly enough, I did as above! One two button 306 key: Remove switch stuff by bending metal tangs away. Required parts salvaged: Fitted to 205 key guts...
