Oil Adaptor Problem.

Recommended Posts

ORB

I have one of the oil pressure adaptors where the sender screws into the side and the switch screws into the end.

What is the correct way to install? I have tried twice and can't stop it leaking (badly)

I can't quite see where exactly it's coming from but it's deffo the adaptor.

Any advise?

Parallel threads seal on the "face" and so need a copper or dowty washer. Tapered threads seal on the thread and need thread tape (PTFE).

So, I understand what you are saying.

I have 3 washers on the end of the adaptor, and some RTV for good measure. I have a fibre washer or two on the pressure sender and a copper washer on the switch on the end (this appears to be good)

What's next? (Other than strip out the radiator AGAIN to sort it...)

I found plenty if ptfe did the trick on mine and a copper washer on both end connections.

I'm in the garage as we speak seeing if I have PTFE still.

I do.

Sort that again tonight!

Except when it goes floating around your engine and then "kills" it.......

Its the devil, much like excessive silicone and RTV.....

Well, a small amount of PTFE and we are no longer leaking.
