Help With These Gearbox Seals Please

Hi

I'm about to replace the driveshafts (3 years only passed) and less than 50,000 KM)

BTW - Is it normal?

 

The main questions is , please tell me which seals are these..

you have three driveshaft seals there, two large and one small.

The first one is a different style of the third one the second one goes into the long drive shaft side, the third one goes into the short shaft side.

So with the big ones , the same quality? Any preference on which to go with?

I Had just fitted the ones on the right to mine before my engine met its untimely end so i'm doing a turbo conversion and swapped my box for a 1.9 in the process and the new box has the seal on the left it's got like an extra seal on the outside of them and I thought they looked quite decent so left them in. Only time will tell tho, I haven't actually filled the box up yet sp have no idea if they're any good

Both work fine in my experience, it's mainly how they are fitted that causes problems, make sure there is 1-2 mm proud, don't fit them flush to the diff housing.

Off the three pictured, I'd use the two which are similar (middle & right) as they are the same as fitted from the factory imo.

 

I've changed driveshafts several times with that style & never had any leaks yet had leaks first fit from the other type.
