I can relate to where your coming from, but I've racked my brains long and hard about it.

Black is too stealth and discreet.. T16 been done and its just not a t16 anyway. I'm thinking its got to be something that's unique, different and standout. The donor car was initially a tommi mak evo 6 but I've since sourced various bits from other evos. I will have the bodywork and decals done to an extremely high standard so it won't be shoddy.

I can't even truly say myself it'll look the part until its done and then ill judge. For now ill just be bold and go for it and see what happens. Worse case ill pull them off and just leave the side stripes.

Yeah bought it off tim, the lad who bought it from leeswood. He must have had the axle sorted as it was fine when I had it. Not that it matters now anyway. Must have had it 2.5 years now. Think tim had it about 6 months.

Afaik, he didn't do the axle. He came to me for a starter motor and when I mentioned the beam, he said he it wasn't priority, as he wanted to sort the paintwork first.

Yeah that sound like him, priorities all wrong. Was fine when I bought it and like I said it doesn't matter now as I have no use for it. It's on my mates rallye now as it goes

Some serious progress being made. Build thread is looking pretty good as well. Not quite as detailed as I'd have liked, shame, but no going back now. Here a little taster of things to come hahaha

Not posted for awhile. Been really busy with the new house on the back end of last year so funds have played a big part in slowing everything down. Front end is completed. 106 power steering rack and column fitted. Bulkhead, floor pan and transmission tunnel complete. Rear subframe is pretty much done but there's been concerns about the rear geometry so it's back out so rear track can be widened. Once back in an propshaft can be made and hey ho the main bulk of it will be done! Brakes, exhaust, all the pipeing, cooling etc remaining. I'm sure will also prove trickier than your average car but hoping it can be done and wired up next few months. Be great to see her running and drivable by summer!

I think the makkinen stuff would work well to be honest, certainley just the stripes but maybe the lettering too. And its gonna be a monster of a car. Any idea of weight of everything once its done? And as the rest say get a build thread going

I will put up a full thread nearer completion for sure.

I am pretty certain I'm going red now. The decals I'm unsure of but easily removed if its not to my taste.

At a guess I reckon around 1000kg when all back together. The running gear isn't the lightest but the rear setup weighs less than the old beam. If I can then lose/switch a few things and shave it down to around 900kg I'll be more than happy!

500bhp per ton is definitely achievable

Certainly should, what are evo's about 1200kg? Its gonna be a right tool and a half, will be keeping my eye on it for certain

Yeah my Evo 6 TME is 1280kg. This car was 950kg iirc originally with the 1.9

875 for a stock 1.9 I think, 309 was 930.

Stock 1.9 yeah but remember to include the dimma kit and split rims. It's a factory dimma, Kevlar lined, not a fibreglass copy

Threads on such cars are much more interesting while being "under construction" ;).

Keeping tight lipped but first possible appearance/outing date has been set... Castle Combe June 7th, you know the one!!!. In raw unpainted unmapped form. It's a 15 mile drive from where she lies in after her surgery. Busy month ahead
