Guest Antoni1.9 Posted October 28, 2003 I had this same question. The general advice is that it is really personal preference. I ended up going to Demon Tweeks and tried all of the display seats out for size shape -. I am built more for comfort than speed - and found 90% of the seats too small, but of the ones that i could get in - the most expensive were not necessarily the most comfortable. I settled on an OMP RS @ £175.00. The £100.00 seats are best avoided in my opinion, as they are tubular framed. HTH Antoni
Guest Bigj Posted October 28, 2003 (edited) As above personal preference and all that but I've fitted several sets of Corbeau Forzas and they've given excellent service They are tubular frames but they're VFM and do the job perfectly. The only reason to go fo composites IMHO is they're lighter. HTH J Edited October 28, 2003 by Bigj
Guest Admin Posted October 28, 2003 I went up to tweeks aswell to try out the seats, the only ones I really liked were the OMP Grip, but at £275 are on the expensive side, however comfort and control wise they are absolutely fantastic
Guest vtracing Posted November 6, 2003 I have the Sparco Rev in my race car and have found them to be bloody great seats. Only problem is if your waist is any bigger than say 36 you are gonna have trouble sitting in them. I am a 34 waist and they are tight on me. http://www.pauley4.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk//i...erior_2_big.jpg More pics on www.vtracing.co.uk Paul

Guest Bigj Posted November 6, 2003 The £100.00 seats are best avoided in my opinion, as they are tubular framed. What is the matter with them? Nothing as far as I can see They're just heavier I've been using them for the past 20 odd years with no problems John

Guest Antoni1.9 Posted November 6, 2003 Tubular Framed seats - The comment really came from the advice given by Demon Tweeks - The tubular framed seats have the material spanning the frame with springs etc much as per the normal type seat. With time (allegedly) the seats can sag etc. The shell type seats (glassfibre / carbon fibre) are a moulded seat, with some padding and then the cover - these I am led to believe are supposed to withstand the rigours of motorsport much better. The tubular frames are generally a bit heavier - only really important for motorsport, and typically are base mount only - the shell type are side mount and can be a bit easier to set up for height / angle. For cost I bought a steel frame seat for the passenger side - it is ok, but the Glassfibre seat is a lot more comfortable (for me) - as I said it is all personal.
