Gt2559 Vnt Xud Project

I won a GT2559V turbo off ebay a month ago which I plan to fit to my 1.9 Dturbo, currently running an Audi TT K04 turbo.

Here's some size pics

It's quite a large brute and I'm sure your all thinking it's going to be laggy but it's a variable nozzle turbo so this means it spools up super quick at low RPM's so it suited perfectly for diesels.

So far I've managed to clock the cartridge so the oil line sits upwards, drilled the manifold for the bolts and just needs thread tapping into it. I've had a plate made for the down pipe which I'm collecting tomorrow then need get the downpipe lined up and welded on there.

I'll keep updated with progress for those interested.

It's off a Vauxhall 3.0 V6 CDTI.

I've got all the bits now apart from the braided oil line which is on it's way in the post. Just needs assembling and down pipe welded to the plate :D cannot wait to get this on!

How are you planning on controlling the VNT mechanism? Looking good though :-)

Nothing amazingly special, plan would be to have a boost can set to open at low boost then after half throttle a solenoid diverts direct feed via a boost controller set at a higher PSI. Crude I know but it will work. I'm hoping due to the size of it it will naturally have lag to prevent surging and as as far as I'm aware this is one of the largest VNT's for a sub car so will not be a fiesty as the smaller GT15's ect.

I think a similar sized turbo. The downpipe is identical. I thought it was his thread for a minute

If you set it up well there will be hardly any lag. Do you know if its original vehicle controlled the vanes using vacuum? Some Alfas use boost pressure to control them so its possible to get it working properly.

Tell him to get a thread up Paul!

I was originally vac controlled so I've converted the actu' to open with boost. The A/R is .61 which is designed for big CC cars not a 1.9. I'm hoping for lag as the main worry with VNT's is spooling up too fast and needing a fancy controller on there. I like to keep things simple like me and my engine

Ginge191 on here has bout that exact turbo off an Alfa, whether it's any good or not we'll see.

i love the fact that the turbo is nearly the same size as the head

i think room might be a issue though

HI!

As he says; my VNT arrived the other day, it's already boost controlled and a more simple actuator. More simple technology to cmoplement the simple engines, but won't have the reliabiltiy that the modern VNT's have.

But this turbo looks too small to me..
