So I can get away with leaving the intermediate driveshaft joint taped up ;) or do you guys reackon they'd pick that up ?

Hard to say, my mums car failed the last test on a split nearside cv boot but the inner end of the same driveshaft was in tatters but never got even mentioned.

 

You should be OK but it'll depend on the tester & if he has had a bad week IMO.

Doesnt the Haynes manual have an MOT checker section?, or is this useless?

Yes it does, but from what I've read on here in the past a lot of people don't own haynes manuals.

inner boot is not mot'able. however the inside cv joint is.

 

btw some of the iformation is old. the maximum uk class 4 test price is £40.75.
