Weather Strips From Other Cars?

I am talking about the outside weather strip on the doors, the ones which shrink and we can no longer get from anywhere.

 

I am thinking of going to the scrap yard and getting a few from other cars which look the same, length, width.

Then just trial and error to see if any are suitable to use on a 205, I am thinking if trying cars like a 106 / 206 first.

Has anybody already tried this? If so which car models did you try, just so I am not going over old ground.

I vaguely remember someone saying that they tried one off a Saxo (maybe a few months ago) but it was still short, but only by 3 mm or something....

I've had to soften an old weatherstrip in boiling water and stretch it out and clip it and tiger seal it into place on the drivers side. Bloody mess but it keeps the water out. Would be very interested in reproductions.

I notice mainly the images on that page showing right angles of seals, aka the rear quarter window seals. My guess is they could reproduce them, but would maybe need an existing example to make is it, a die? I'm stretching my limited knowledge on this sort of stuff though.

A friend of mine has an old Triumph and has shown me

They deal in trim seals and rubber extrusions

They don't show a 205 window rubber but,

It does say they have over 1000 different profiles.

Says you can send a sample or picture with dimensions, ink print.

They are based in Devon, has anyone had any dealings with them?
